I'm new and have rule questions.

I do Fantasy Football mostly and me and my boss want to start a Baseball league.

I now the basic roster but what's the basic starting lineup and how do the pitchers work? I found nothing on this. Do we start everybody?

I admit I don't want to buy a magazine until we get some more people involved.

Diffrent rules apply to diffrent leagues but I can give you the rules of the league I play in. We have a 28 man roster with daily roster changes. We start 1 each at c, 1b, 2b, 3b, ss, 3 of, 2 utility. 3 Sp, 2 rp, 2 any pitchers. Now with the daily changes you can switch your starters in and out as they pitch. The rest of the roster posistions are used for bench spots.

First time fantasy baseballers? I'd likely steer you to Yahoo! which opens soon and is free. Fantasy baseball is played several ways. I believe Yahoo!'s free game gives you the option of normal roto or 5x5 head to head. If your league is transitioning from fantasy football this or H2H points may be the closest thing.
