Because of relative under-performance by them this season, and/or because of unexpected over-performance of other players, I bet the following players will be relative steals in next year's draft. Wondering if y'all see it the same way.
1. Alfonso Soriano -- 2nd rd? 2. Johan Santana -- 2nd rd? 3. David Ortiz -- 2nd rd? 4. Lance Berkman -- 3rd rd? 5. Travis Hafner --3rd rd? 6. Carl Crawford 7. Vernon Wells -- 5th rd? 8. Jason Bay -- 3rd rd? 9. Garrett Atkins -- 5th rd? 10. Michael Young -- 5th rd? 11. Roy Halladay 12. Paul Konerko -- 6th rd? 13. Jermaine Dye 14. Juan Pierre 15. Jeremy Bonderman

How about Matt Cain?
Well, he certainly underperformed, but the distinguishing question of this post is ... is he a steal (that you would be happy to draft)? Would I even want to "steal" Cain next season?
Konerko always seems to be undervalued, but he has certainly broken out of his early struggles. I don't suspect him to go much later than he did this year.
I don't really expect Young to find his power stroke again, so I won't be targeting him next year especially not in the 5th round.
Wells' inconsistencies will probably shy me away from him next year as well.
Bay might slip a little further, making him a real interesting choice. Although, he won't steal more than 10 bases.

If the Giants make some moves this off-season and get some guys that can score some runs, Cain's numbers will improve. He gets just over three runs per nine and six of his 13 quality starts resulted in losses. He's maintaining an ERA just under 4, K's a reasonable amount of batters, and he'll be 23 next season.
I'll give him a shot and try to pick him up in the later parts of the draft next season.
Ryan Zimmerman. He's showing nice power this year, although the average is low (but climbing). He was a 4th-5th round pick this year, and I think he'll slip a few rounds due to the low average and counting numbers, yet give better value.
The above guy who mentioned Cain is spot on. I suspect that he will have a Dan Haren type break out next year. He will fall in drafts due to his horrible record and the fact that he just hasn't pitched terrific this season.
He and Bonderman are the guys I will be drafting next year like I did Haren, CC, Harang and Bedard this season.
