Lowry and Zito ... call me confused

Postby rails80 » Sun Aug 05, 2007 6:55 pm

Lowry left the game early with a forearm injury (tightness?)

Zito came in to pitch 1 inning ... what's that all about?

It might've been Zito's throw day and matchup purposes. But hell for all the money we're paying him and the way he's performing this season this is the least he can do.

I didn't think of it being his throw day - that would make sense. Haven't been near a TV or computer for too long today so I have no idea what's going on where...just saw 1.0 IP in the shaded area bc I had him on my bench

Like most injuries, it's too early to tell. But the Giants and Lowry himself don't seem overly concerned:

A ligament strength test he underwent Sunday revealed no serious problems.

"There's always some concern, but I don't think it's major," Bochy said. "I think we caught it in time."

Said Lowry, who began feeling discomfort in his final inning, "I'm trying to stay optimistic. It feels like it's just a muscle cramp, in my opinion."

But Lowry sensed more than cramping by the time he escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third by inducing Michael Barrett's foul popup.

"It was pretty sore at that point," Lowry said.

SAN FRANCISCO -- The MRI on Noah Lowry's left arm came back clean Monday, but to play it safe, he will miss his Friday start and the Giants now have two holes to plug in their rotation as they still haven't named a permanent replacement for Matt Morris....

Lowry was pulled after three innings with tightness in his left arm. After the game, Lowry said it felt like just a cramp and the MRI confirmed it was nothing serious, but manager Bruce Bochy isn't taking any chances.

The Giants' two previous games went into extra innings and they ran out of fresh relievers so they threw Zito in there for an inning. Nothing but a lack of other options that night. Everything should be back to normal now.
