News: Cardinals 1B Albert Pujols was not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Nationals for just the second time this season due to a sore right elbow. Manager Tony La Russa said he was available to pinch hit.
Analysis: If Pujols is available to pinch-hit, the injury can't be that bad. He might take another day off Sunday, but should be ready for Fantasy Week 19 (Aug. 6-12). Pujols has been great in the second half of the season by stroking eight homers. He is right back in the mix of the home run race. Despite a down season by his standards, Pujols remains a must-start Fantasy option.

actually, there are whispers of that in St. Louis right now. He's had a problem with the UCL in that elbow for years now; it was the original reason he was moved to 1st so he wouldn't stress it throwing as much. There's some concern he finally snapped it.

If he had the procedure, he'd be out for 6 months.

probably not. He's been the same old Pujols over the past two months when, if the injury were really affecting him, you'd expect him to stay the same as he was to start the year or get worse.

I think his slow start was due to his team's weak performance. Albert has said he was trying too hard and swinging at pitches he normally wouldn't have swung at because he felt he had to step up since no one else was hitting.
