Ben Sheets: Not Close to Being Ready

Update: Sheets (sprained finger) said on Tuesday that he wasn't close at all to returning from his injury, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Recommendation: It's been two weeks since Sheets injured his finger and he's still weeks away from returning. The Brewers were hoping for an early September return and right now that may be optimistic. Don't expect him back before then.

Let's face it--none of us is going to get any help from Sheets for the rest of the year. If you're counting on him, you're in trouble.

Personally, I drafted him the last two years and I think I'm done with him. At worst, he's injury-prone; at best, he's not very resilient. And although his numbers were good before the injury, they weren't elite. I'll let somebody else take the potential headaches next year.

Staying healthy is a skill. Sheets lacks it. Look for him to come back end of August or early September. Still an excellent pitcher so he is worth holding onto.

here's the conversation between me and another manager.
(Walked into his office and he was looking at MLB boxscore)
Me: How is your fantasy team doing?
He: Matsui is on fire. Offering him for Hamels and Hennessey
Me: Cool. Arroyo is on fire too. 7 ERs in 1.2 innings.
He: Hahahahahaha, what a stud
Me: Against the freaking Washington..who whould've thought he got lit up
He: I would start any one against Washington too...damn I am going to drop Sheets
Me: Why?
He: He isn't coming back and I need the DL spot for Chris Young.
Me: Yo you want "your NL Cy Young last year" for Sheets?
He: OK. I will probably drop arroyo after I got him.
Me: Good. You need a closer right? How about Putz for Peavy straight up?
He: .....OK. I'll do it too.
Me: Nah, I am ripping you off. Just do the Sheets for Arroyo trade for now.
He: OK. I offered it.

deal done.
So I traded Arroyo for Sheets..
Let's hope he is back in September and help me in the playoffs.
I don't know why he doesn't want to hold on to Sheets though, he is 2nd and I am 3rd place, and we both will make the playoffs for sure..
