i see it more as him facing a potent phillies lineup. phillies have been pounding every starter, so i didn't expect a good outing from marshall anyways.

I think that was more of the case. Just heard Pinella on the pre-game, and he was saying that they put some cream in his eye, and Marshall changed his contacts, and that he was supposedly "fine" at the start of the game.
