Late Late Late Rounds

Postby Savoy Special » Tue Feb 10, 2004 1:45 pm

We are in the 24th & 25th rounds of a draft. I have a little concern over my bullpen. I have Hoffman, Nathan, & Graves. These guys are still available. My thoughts might be to pick up two of them since I feel my offense and starting pitchers are strong.
Biddle
Beck (insurance for Hoffman??)
Speier (Lopez was just picked)
Herges
Hawkins (will Borowski falter?)
Oliver Perez
Hasagawa
Ayala (will Biddle falter?)
Farnsworth

Here is my entire roster in case you are interested:
C--Lieberthal, Pierzynski
1B--Huff, Klesko
2B--Vidro, Hairston
3B--Rolen, Dmitri Young
SS--ARod
OF--Andruw, Crawford, Patterson, Jacque Jones (Young & Huff)
DH--Fullmer
SP--Wood, Mussina, Wolf, Clement, BH Kim, Lawrence
RP--Hoffman, Nathan, Graves

I'd take Speier from that list. Just my opinion, but I think that he's got the best chance of seeing save opportunities.

It's the 24th/25th round, how late is he going to wait to scramble for a closer?

I'd get Speier or Herges. Herges is the closer probably in SF. And Speier will probably close for Toronto. Both aren't sure things, but between those 2 it's kind of personal preference. I guess I'd grab Speier, but it's up to you.

BTW: Farnsworth isn't the closer in Chicago, Borowski is.

Herges and Speier are your best choices.

Totally agree. After those I would pick up Biddle.

I didn't know Oliver Perez was going to be a closer?

I like Perez but I thought he was going to start.

Anyway the best bet for Saves in Biddle. Hawkins might get a save here or there but I don't think Borowski will faulter.

Speier and Beck.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.
