Top Ten SP for 2008

Postby Legia13 » Wed Aug 01, 2007 3:03 pm

Curious to see who you guys think the first 10 SP's chosen in 2008 will be. I think it's a little tougher than the hitters. Here we go:

1. Johan
2. Peavy
3. CC
4. Young
5. Haren
6. Becks
7. Lackey
8. Zambrano
9. Hamels
10. Bedard

I felt really bad leaving Lincecum off, but there's just soo many deserving SP's. It's really tough to chose because there is a lot of guys who make a strong case to be in here. Also, I'm not going to include Chris Carpenter as I don't know how he'll come back from surgery.

Bubble: Maine, Lincecum, Webb, Felix, Halladay, Penny, Verlander, Sheets

Just at quick glance, how could you consider taking Halladay ahead of Zambrano? he is on pace for a Cy Young award and has been the best (or second) pitcher in the major leagues for the last 2 months.

I would also move Bedard into the top 10 for sure because of his incredible K numbers and Halladay out.

I agree. I just didn't want to throw Doc out after one down season. I'm going to move Zambrano up for sure.

It all still depends on how the final two months finish out. If Bedard continues on even close to the way he is going he could be top 5. You can't ignore 250 strike outs and everything else he's doing.

With that said you just can't do these list yet, while it is fun and I love doing them, they will likely change too much to be worth anything. Just my opinion.....carry on!

I think Maine would make my top ten if its a keeper. If it's a redraft then Smoltz might be up there.

I would also think about throwing Escobar on there some where. If he can stay healthy like he has this season he's a top talent.

the list looks pretty good, i'd move becks down a couple spots, and remove penny from the bubble. penny really isn't that good of a pitcher; he's having a career year thanks to those Wins. replace him with kelvim or smoltz.

The list looks solid. I don't know about everyone else, but I'd rather have Verlander next year than Hamels. I'd rather have Verlander than Halladay, too.

Bedard seriously might be the 2nd best fantasy pitcher, next to santana.
