Projected D'backs batting order

Postby Fumbler » Mon Feb 09, 2004 8:46 pm

Got this from my morning newspaper:

1. Steve Finley
2. Roberto Alomar
3. Luis Gonzalez
4. Richie Sexson
5. Alex Cintron
6. Shea Hillenbrand
7. Danny Bautista
8. Robby Hammock
9. Pitcher

Anyone else surprised to see Finley hit leadoff? That's something i wasn't expecting. I know quite a few people had him pegged as a sleeper.

I would have to think that would hurt his value. Although he'll probably get more at-bats, will he have enough opportunities to drive in runs?

I would think that Alomar wont be at #2 for long.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

this, ladies and gentlemen, will not be winning the West this year.

this might have a shot IMO .

1. Steve Finley
2. Raul Mondesi
3. Luis Gonzalez
4. Richie Sexson
5. Shea Hillenbrand
6. Alex Cintron
7. Roberto Alomar
8. Robby Hammock

and is still do-able. Why won't they wake up? he is not asking for that much is he? hey, and great arm for that OF too!!! Shame. Zona is one player away. IMO

Now Randy and Brandon just need a few mates.

I agree the Dbacks need to keep Mondesi

1. Steve Finley
2. Alex Cintron
3. Luis Gonzalez
4. Richie Sexson
5. Shea Hillenbrand
6. Raul Mondesi
7. Roberto Alomar
8. Robby Hammock
9. Pitcher

That is a very solid if not good lineup to me..If Webb can repeat last year and RJ returns to Cy Form...then you could be looking at the 2004 NL West Champs.

But I still like the Padres to be this year's MArlins!

Why would anyone pitch to Sexson? At least last year he had Jenkins behind him. :-[

i'd be walking Sexson all day long to get at Hilly. Has Modesi lost all his speed? He used to be a 30/30 guy didn't he? I just can't believe the Finley is their best option to lead off.

Am I the only one thinking that Finley at the top is a bad idea?

As it stands now it would be to get to Cintron, not Hillenbrand.

I think that Cintron would make a much better leadoff hitter than Finley. I wouldn't be surpised if those two flip-flopped batting positions at some point in the year.

I don't see any way that the D'backs can win the West. The other three starters will come from this pool: Fossum, Dessens, Sparks, and Reynolds.

I think this is gonna put too much pressure on RJ and Webb to produce. RJ can handle the pressure but i just don't see him as being dominant anymore. We'll have to see how well Webb can handle the pressure being the #2 starter.
