What Will You Do When Vlad Hits His Next Homerun?

I'm going to quit smoking, be good to others, eat my vegetables and finally feel good that I traded for Vlad a month ago and have yet to get a homerun from him.

the REAL question is what will you do the next time either Juan Pierre or Jason Kendall or Jason Tyner hits a HR.

I've never really understood this. As it has been mentioned before, I don't see how this is any different from just taking batting practice any day in the week. Although they might want you practicing hitting the ball in different parts of the park and what not, isn't your goal still to hit it out of the park? :-? Enlighten me if I'm wrong.

As long as Vlad gets his power back going into playoffs, I don't mind. ;-D

If I remember correctly, I think David wright said during batting practice, they only take a few swings with a break in between and rarely every swing with 100% effort. During the HR derby, especially if you make it into the later rounds, you're taking like 40 - 50 full effort swings, which is much different than batting practice. However, I agree that it's a bit odd for it to still affect them like 3 weeks later.

It could start out as something physical and then morph into something psychological... though as Cockcroft and others showed, the HR derby jinx is kind of a myth.
