Texeira going to the Braves

Postby ceLpH » Mon Jul 30, 2007 12:01 pm

According to Ken Rosenthal, the deal is finally done, pending a review of medical records. The Braves will receive Mark Teixeira and lefty reliever Ron Mahay, while the Rangers will get Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Elvis Andrus, and two pitching prospects.

And now the fire alarm went off in my building, so I'll be back with more in a bit.

How much do you all think this will boost Salty's value?

he'll play everyday

Texas has been trying to move Laird for a few days now, Cubs will probably jump on him

I was under the assumption that Salty was going to play 1st (replacing Tex)...not sure where I got that assumption from esp. since Rangers have Wilkerson that can play 1st.....

gotta love trade deadline anticipation.....exciting times...

Does adding Tex increase the value of Chipper, Andruw, McCann, and Francouer? I would think they get better protection, but they already have a loaded lineup, but with Tex more chances to score runs.

Does anyone believe Salty will start most of the games as catcher and the Rangers call up Botts to man 1st base?

from what I read they will be trading Sosa, and replacing him in the OF with Botts... and like I mentioned earlier, I read some reports that the Rangers were shopping around Laird (their catcher now) but I havent really read any follow-up on that in a few days

anyone know where Teix will hit?.... Id assume its

1. Renteria
2. Chip
3. Andruw
4. Teix
5. Francouer
6. McCann

This is a good and bad situation for me. Good in the way that Teix's fantasy value gets much stronger playing in that lineup, bad in the fact that my phillies have to worry about the braves even more now.

Looks good, except I'd put Harris up top and bump everybody else back one... I also wouldn't mind seeing Teix split the Joneses, but I think they'll hit Tex 5th since him and Chipper are both switchies...

Ive been thinking about the lineup as well...Harris hits leadoff obviously. What im caught up on is if they put Tex behind Ajones then would he see better pitches? You dont wana walk ajones to get to Tex, do you? Bill Gates needs to buy the Braves and sign ajones and tex to 7 year deals!! I wish.
