Personally, I think the Braves should move Chipper to 1B to prolong his career and lessen his injuries and should have focused on acquring a 3B which would have been much cheaper and likely would have been better in the longterm. Granted, it likely would have cost them Andrus or Salty but not both. Bad move imo.
assuming he goes to ATL, does his value decrease a little? doesn't turner field sap some left handed power? i thought texas was one of the better places to put up huge offensive #s, if he can't do it there how's he going to do it in ATL?
also, is teix of 06 and 07 the real teix, and not the 05 one? i ask because this the trend is he's turning into more of a doubles hitter than home run hitter. also he seems to go into long stretches where he goes through a HR drought. for example, he hit just 1 HR in 64 july ABs and in april, he only hit 2 HRs from 91 ABs not hitting a HR for the first 26 days of the season.
during preseason, he was going in the 2nd round in many leagues. a lot of people thought teix was back after a solid 2nd half last yr and thought it was going to continue. he obviously hasn't and his stock has seriously fallen. where do you place teix now among the 1B? i think guys like morneau, lee, hafner, fielder, konerko are all ahead of him now leaving him at the bottom of the 1B second tier.

I think his AVG will go down as every year but last year had him batting worse on the road. However, he's a switch-hitting power hitter just like Chipper, so his HR rate should remain strong. He's been quiet at the plate since coming off the DL, so maybe he was distracted by all the trade rumors and hopefully he'll focus better now.
the 2nd minor league arm is Neftali Feliz, i dont know anything about him besides hes a 19 year old right hander who is doing pretty good but obviously at a very low level.
the first one better be harrison and he better be healthy, im fine with 1 ready for mlb position player, 1 nearly ready for mlb pitcher, and then 1 of each that are far away..... i just dont want salty to be the only guy taht will be here within the next year.
i think this is pretty much the model for a good all around trade though. braves needed a 1b and a lefty, they got a 1b and a lefty. rangers got good value long term.
no loser in this trade as of right now, though obviously if salty busts or meets his high expectations will determine it long term.

Damn right....one solid lineup, with lefty/righty balance, 2 switch hitters (Teixeria & Chipper) and of course the two pisition platoon system that Bobby Cox likes to use. (LF and 2B) You got to give Schorholtz his props here....Excellent deal, Salty is a solid prospect but with McCann aboard there was no need for him. Wish my Team had a GM like that.
Vs Righties: Harris - LF Renteria - SS C.Jones - 3B A.Jones - CF Teixeria - 1B McCann - C Francoeur - RF K.Johnson - 2B PITCHER SPOT
Vs Lefties: Escobar - 2B Renteria - SS C.Jones - 3B A.Jones - CF Teixeria - 1B Francoeur - RF McCann - C Diaz - LF PITCHER SPOT

His HR should go down due to the park while his AVG, RBI and R should improve with the better lineup.
