I just heard on ESPN Tex & Mahay has been traded to Atlanta for Salty, and at least 2 minor leaguers.

The Braves are on the verge of acquiring Rangers first baseman Mark Teixeira.

The deal is done, pending a review of the medical records of the players involved, according to major-league sources.

The Braves will receive Teixeira and left-handed reliever Ron Mahay.

The Rangers will receive catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Class A shortstop Elvis Andrus and two pitching prospects.

One of the prospects is believed to be Class AA left-hander Matt Harrison.

Wow, this seems like a good deal for the Rangers. I do understand the Braves' logic here, as Teixeira is entering his prime and he fills a HUGE hole at 1b that they've had for years. But, this is exactly the type of deal that I love to see as a Ranger fan. It's time to start over with this organization, and steal a page from the Marlins managerial playbook.

Looks like a good deal for both teams. I wonder if the Braves will fork over 20mm/yr for Teixeira when his contract is up. He's a very, very good player but I have a feeling that Boras will demand franchise type player money.

Huge move by the Braves. With the way Chipper has been playing, if Andruw can continue to right the ship, this offense just became one of the leagues best.
