Yea, big waste of time. The other day they spent like 15 minutes showing 5 different arm angles of pitchers and how no matter where your release point is you can still be good..... I guess the last 200 years of baseball hasn't proved that enough they felt the need to tell us

Yep. Stats, updates, and video clips. 3/4 of the people here at the cafe know more about baseball than those analysts, so why listen to their b.s.? :-X

Agreed. Very rarely do I watch baseball tonight and get real insight. I just want to see how my Sox did.
I'm back. Sorta.

Totally agree. I now only watch ESPN for actual sporting events now. Even then I often mute it.

I feel like ESPN used to cater to the hardcore fan, whereas now they cater to 12 year olds (or at least people with the attention spans of 12 year olds). I actually wonder how much my desires as a fan have changed versus how much ESPN has actually changed. I tend to think they have dumbed down more than I have wised up.

Same goes for their website. Used to be the only place I went for sports news. Now it's about 4th or 5th down the line.

The thing is that ESPN is now ESPN2 and ESPN2 is even worse. Seems like ESPN used to be just the mainstream sports and 2 was everything else. Now you see figure skating, bowling, softball, spelling bee, car shows, track, darts, poker (I'm a fan but not a sport), the occasional lame reality show, and other stuff all on ESPN. Some of those are fine, but really shouldn't be on EPSN in my opinion.

And the other problem with ESPN is Stuart Scott. I can't see how anyone isn't sick of him by now. He's only good in the commercials now.

Same for the website. I used to go there solely. Now it's so cluttered with useless junk floating around and stupid articles.

Actaully, I'm okay with Phillips and Kruk because at least they know how to talk. I know they're not "experts" but when Eduardo Perez is mispronouncing words and incorrect grammar I want to shove an ice pick in my ear. ESPN needs to fix this.

Steve Phillips is just ridiculous. He's awful, he has no idea what he's talking about and I don't know how he ever was allowed to run a major league team, let alone a big market team.

Kruk is a big dumb jock, but that's at least part of what makes him him.

Kirkjian and Olney are solid. But I just wish they'd get more air time. I'd love to see ESPN hire a couple of the guys from The Hardball Times (particularly their pitching guru and Derek Carty) to at least write the material for the former players to say. Then, even if they didn't have any idea what was coming out of their mouths at least it would still be something useful for the consumer to hear.

Last time this topic was touched on someone linked this post which I think says it pretty well:

But Kruk comes across as Stephen Hawking when compared to the embarrassment that is Steve Phillips.
