Medlock is a pretty good return for something you really don't want. He lost the plot a little at AAA this year , but this years AA stats are crazy-good. I don't know why they would want Shackelford he's 31 and not good.
Medlock though ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D COTF.
Good work Andrew Friedman ;-D

The Reds bascially give away nothing. I'm okay with that.

Shackelford is absolute garbage. He's terrible.
Medlock has an outside chance to be good at the major league level, though.

Win, win methinks.

This trade makes no sense to me, for Cincy that is. Unless they do somethings drastic like move Edwin or Phillips to short, Cantu doesn't have job. Decent bat I guess....but other than that, looks like they made a trade just to make a trade.

This move makes no sense for the Reds if you look at it for just this year. Cantu can play 1B, 3B, & some 2B. 1B Scott Hatteberg is signed through this year but does have a team option for next year. IMO, he'll be traded to a team like the Yankees. 1B/OF Jeff Conine will not be resigned and could be traded this year for a contender needing a good pinch hitter with post season experience. The Reds have Votto as the future 1B but they likely have no 1B backup in 2008. Looking ahead, it looks great for the Reds imo.
