guy is hitting 350, with a 900 OPS.
With Lofton, Sosa, and Tiexera leaving it looks like he will be a mainstay as the cleanup hitter in Texas.
Are you buying or selling Marlon Byrd for the rest of the year ?

In 2003 people thought he was coming into his own...
2003 PHI 495 86 150 7 45 44 11 0.3030 0.3661 0.4182
Unfortunatly he followed up with:
2004 PHI 346 48 79 5 33 22 2 0.2283 0.2872 0.3208
Which will it be in "08"?

No, he's not for real. His stats before this season were terrible. His BABIP this season is .444. Bad hitters don't all of a sudden get better when they're going on 30.

He hasn't slowed down since he came up. So that says for now HE IS FOR REAL.I'm enjoying the ride. If it ends? Oh well.

Before breaking out, were any of them as bad a hitter as pre-'07 Byrd ?

Well, I mentioned Gary Matthews who was released many time by multiple teams.
http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/matthga02.shtmlI know there are few more that didn't really come on till later in their career. Tavish would be a good guy to ask.

Tell you what. I reallly don't care how bad a guy was before he was on my team. Its what is he doing for me now that counts. Two months of very solid production.

Exactly....his play has given himself a deserved shot to prove his skills in CF for the rest of the year. Unfortunately, this sort of thing is what the second half of the season is all about for Texas.
