Tadahito Iguchi to the Phillies

Postby BALCO All-Stars » Fri Jul 27, 2007 4:45 pm

Just heard on 670 the Score in Chicago via a broadcaster from U.S. Cellular...

Tadahito Iguchi was traded to the Phillies, but they are unsure of the player going to the Sox.

Sorry, no link yet though.

CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have acquired right-handed pitcher Michael Dubee from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for second baseman Tadahito Iguchi.

Dubee, 21, is 4-4 with a 3.88 ERA (24 ER/55.2 IP), one save and 54 strikeouts in 30 relief appearances this season with Class A Lakewood of the South Atlantic League. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder has averaged 8.7 strikeouts per 9.0 IP and has allowed just two home runs.

Dubee was selected by the Phillies in the 18th round of the June 2006 First-Year Player Draft. He has gone 5-7 with a 4.05 ERA (45 ER/100.0 IP) and 82 strikeouts in 42 games (10 starts) over two minor-league seasons.

Dubee is the son of Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee.

Iguchi, 32, is batting .251 (82-327) with 17 doubles, four triples, six home runs and 31 RBI in 90 games with the White Sox this season. He is a career .273 (380-1,393) hitter with 39 home runs, 169 RBI and 216 runs scored in three seasons with the White Sox.

Iguchi originally was signed by the White Sox as a free agent on January 27, 2005 after spending eight seasons with the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks in the Japanese Pacific League.

I guess that means the guy the phillies just called up from AAA may not even get to suit up for a game before going back down.

Who is the kid in Chicago they want to get time for. They said something like he was batting .340 in the minors on the Philly broadcast. But I can't find anyone at the 2B depth chart that has those numbers for them. Was this a mix up on the broadcast or is there really a decent kid coming up to play 2B for the Sox?

Danny Richar is the future replacement for Iguchi in Chicago. There was some talk of him replacing Uribe at short next year before today's trade. He might be listed as a SS.
I'm hoping the Sox bring him up right away but Ozzie Guillen is pretty loyal to his veterans so I'm guessing Alex Cintron will get the majority of time at second base. I think Andy Gonzales can play second and Macoviak used to play second although I can't recall him playing there this year.
This is just a guess but I doubt Richar sees much big league playing time before September.

CBS sportsline is reporting that Richar will be called up and become the everyday 2nd baseman for the Sox.

My guess for the lineup until Utley makes it back would be this:

1) Bourn/Victorino
2) Bourn/Victorino/Iguchi
3) Rollins
4) Howard
5) Rowand/Burrell
6) Rowand/Burrell/Dobbs/Helms
7) Iguchi/catcher/Dobbs/Helms
8) Iguchi/catcher

So basically I'd see Iguchi hitting 2nd, 7th or 8th depending on who is in the lineup on a given day. I think the most used lineup as long as Burrell remains hot is likely to be Victorino, Iguchi, Rollins, Howard, Burrell, Rowand, Dobbs/Helms, Ruiz.
