Utley Out 4-6 Weeks Broken Hand

What a year in Philly, huh? I think Utley comes back just fine, little rust so activate him as soon as he's back. Howard will get a jumpstart with his presense, no doubt about that. Unfortunately, its too little, too late for the team, IMO.

Grudz, it was nice knowing ya. BTW, are you guys all activating him immediately or waiting to see how he does. I can only do one transaction a week and I was wondering if I should wait.

I'm in a weekly lineup league, so he'll get one day of action on my bench before I get to activate him Monday. But I'm going to activate him right away. At best, he's back to the old Utley. At worst, he's still better that the bums I've been subbing in there since he went down. Besides, he really didn't miss all that much time (I think about 4 weeks) and he'll have a couple rehab games under his belt by the time he comes up.

at AA reading tonite, he went 1 fer 3 in the opener and 0 fer 3 in the nitecap and was pinch hit for in the 7th inning....anybody at the game or hear anything about how he looked ?

Utley begins a rehab assignment tonight in a doubleheader for double-A Reading. He is expected to play second base in Game 1, and be the designated hitter in Game 2. He will play second base again tomorrow for Reading.

And Sunday?

He could be playing second base ... for the Phillies against the Padres.

If he's not back Sunday, he certainly should be back Monday to face the Mets.

utley 0 for 4 w/a K tonite at AA Reading...total 3 gms=1 for 10 (a single) w/2 Ks...let's hope all the rust gets knocked off by monday

Utley made a good play in the field tonight for Reading, diving for a ball to his left, so that's a good sign ...
