I've always considered myself an extreme Democrat (mainly because I'm quite liberal socially), but I gotta tell you I'm trowing myself behind Ron Paul big time. The man seems supremely intelligent to me, and while I don't agree with him all the time, I think he'd make a great president.

I encourage all those who have written off the GOP to give him a look and maybe support him so there will actually be TWO decent candidates on the ballot this year rather than one... or none.

Being able to look at a candidate based on their merits rather than party is a sign of intelligence in my opinion. I'm socially liberal as well, but I don't necessarily consider myself a "liberal" on all issues, nor would I think many self-proclaimed conservatives are conservative on all issues either. I've always supported the conservative view of small government and personal freedom, but this whole neo-conservative movement by Bush and his administration has really left a gross taste in my mouth.
