Carlos Lee at 3B?

Postby vladrules » Wed Jul 25, 2007 11:06 am

From rotoworld:

Carlos Lee, who came up through the White Sox organization as a third baseman, would be open to moving back to the position if the Astros asked him.
"He's got great hands," manager Phil Garner said. "He's quick. He's very quick. He's extremely quick and good." Lee is currently listed behind Morgan Ensberg, Mark Loretta, Mike Lamb and even Brad Ausmus on the depth chart at third for Houston.

Interesting. I'll have another option for Atkins at 3B. If Lee got 3B eligibility next year, where would he rank?

I just saw that, you beat me to the punch.

I would have to say, it would make 3B really stacked, with youngsters such as Braun Upton and Gordon, joining the elite.

MY TOP FIVE:
A-Rod
M-Cab
*Lee*
Braun
A-Ram or Wright

if Miguel Cabrera can play 3rd I see no reason that Lee cant

does make the position real stacked though.... 2B is becoming the only shallow position in the league with SS coming in 2nd

I think OF (considering you have to play between 3 to 5) is very shallow. I haven't looked at a stats comparison recently, but coming into the year, SS was actually a pretty deep position, and OF was down there with 2B. Maybe as far as "elite" players, SS is shallow, but as far as overall production, I looked at it as 1B, SS and 3B close, OF, 2B, C.

Is this actually going to happen or are they just talking about it???

It would be soooooo nice to have a top tier 3rd baseman and cut ties with Zimmerman.

I'm praying to the fantasy gods that Lee moves to 3B. My 3B has been a cesspool of really stinky crap this season. Sliding Lee into that slot would be like having that atomic Taiwanese girl I saw in the subway this morning just walk up to me out of nowhere and say things that would get me banned from this forum. :-D

IF he moves to 3B I seriously doubt it would happen before next season. With Pence out the OF is already thin. There's no reason for the Astro's to make a move like that when they're out of the postseason hunt. IF it were to happen this year my guess would be in september, probably later in september. Just enough to see what position to fill in the offseason.

Avatar, if things worked out with that Taiwanese girl, I bet you wouldn't even care about your fantasy baseball squad anymore. :-b
