Spin: Ortiz, who injured the shoulder while sliding into second base last Friday, took swings at soft tosses while in the batting cage. He reported still feeling some pain in the joint, but indicated there has been improvement in each of the last two days. "I've got to hit on the field (Tuesday) and see how it feels and I'll go from there," Ortiz said. "If I'm fine, I'll play (Wednesday). I always play sore anyways."<<

Ortiz will play tonight Francona confirmed after the game. He said Ortiz would have been available to pinch hit last night
