Is it time to give up on Dontrelle Willis?

I just dont have any confidence to put him in my lineup....he gets blownup so regularly and walks are a regular staple with him.. Does anyone think he can turn it around this season? I am sure someone will pick him up off the waiver wire if I drop him but on the same token his trade value is shot so cutting him is the only option.

I guess it depends on the size of the league, but unless you're in an extremely deep league, I say let him go. It's hard to do, I know. I did it two weeks ago and have been quite pleased with my decision. Nobody's fooled by the leg kick anymore, and he simply doesn't have very good stuff. I've argued for him before, but I was mistaken. Drop him. There's surely someone better on the wire, for the short term AND the long term.

I just dropped him for P Neshek. I'd rather have a guy help me a little bit than hurt me a lot right now. I don't need W's and just need to make sure I keep my ratio's in check.

That depends entirely on your league. Shallow mixed to deep NL-only is a huge difference. Also what's available to replace him makes a big difference too. I've only played mixed leagues and in all but really deep leagues of that type I'd say it's well past time to give up on him. I've always though he was over rated and specifically avoided drafting him this year. He's got an average at best 1.35 career WHIP and last year it was 1.42. This year it's 1.65. Those are not the numbers of a good pitcher.

When you have average stuff and are fooling people with a strange delivery, it's only a matter of time before hitters see you enough to figure it out, and then you get crushed...

I'd drop him in anything smaller than a deep 14 teamer, or NL only league.

I dropped him three weeks ago after being frustrated as hell with him all season. Finally my SP numbers are getting better--he boned me on ERA and WHIP every week. I'm so glad I ditched his punk ass.
