DeRosa - 1B Eligibility Now...(Yahoo), But....

.....he's one of the more highly dropped players this week according to the Buzz Index. The guy's been a godsend for me, with Cuddyer, Kinsler and Crede all getting hurt. I know he's not a "full time" player, but he's playing about 80-90% of the time and he's having a very nice year. I'd think 4-position eligibility would make him much more valuable....

I was giddy when I saw someone drop him a few weeks ago. I scooped him up and have played him a lot lately at my UTL spot. He always tends to produce something when he plays, and he can draw a walk. Perfect guy to have on my bench, especially with 4 position eligibility now.

Since the Cubs traded Izturis, and with all the injuries to Floyd, Derosa's starting most days (and this week because of Lee's suspension). If the Cubs trade Jacque Jones (which I don't see happening now that he's been hitting), he'd gain some more time. The only problem is that Fontenot is currently the everyday 2B, so if Floyd is healthy, Derosa's time gets cut a little bit. The good thing is that he can give Ramirez at 3B, Lee at 1B, Fontenot at 2B, and Theriot at SS (most likely by playing 2B and sliding Fontenot to SS) time off. And if Pinella sticks to what he says about playing Floyd only 3 to 4 times a week when healthy, then Derosa could still see 5 to 6 games a week when Floyd is healthy, and full time when Floyd (or anyone else) is hurt.

Len and Bob reported he was pulled b/c of hamstring tendonitis. Luckily they had just recalled Ronnie Cedeno prior to the game, Theriot moved over to 2B.
