Let's not panic yet folks, we don't even have a word on the severity of the injury yet. I've sprained my ankle before too, it's not the end of the world.
He did continue on running the bases after it happened. So he could put weight on it atleast. If it were a playoff type meaningful game I would probably guess he would have continued but no need risking it on a game in July.

Rays' Crawford day-to-day with ankle sprain X-rays on Carl Crawford's left ankle were negative, but he's likely to miss a couple of games with a sprain. The Rays are off Monday, so it would make sense to rest Crawford until Tuesday for the series opener against the Orioles. Jonny Gomes is starting in left field tonight. Jul. 21 - 6:18 pm et
Any new news on Crawford? Is he going to miss anytime next week? I have to make a decision soon as to wether start him or Berkman for next week. Both are battling injuries but Berkman has possibly 7 games next week and Crawford only has 6, which one will miss less time next week?

That's tough to predict. Crawford is supposedly day-to-day, so we might see him play Tuesday. I guess Berkamn offers the higher upside just 'cause Crawford's game is predicated on speed and if he sprained his ankle, even if he plays he might not be stealing a whole bunch.
