What if it was a book you were excited about and somebody ruined it for you? You'd be pretty pissed, I'd bet. I urge you to show good judgement and refrain. Just in case you don't, I won't be coming back to this thread (or any other Harry Potter thread for that matter) until after I've read it.

Don't worry I'm not going to spoil it. Just tempted is all

I walked in Borders during lunch and they have a big table set up with something to do with Harry Potter. I've never read any of the books but i've seen all the movies.
How different are the books than the movie? Would it even be worth the time to go back and read the books?
If you have seen the movies and the story is interesting to you then I would say it's worth reading the books. The movies are designed to tell the basic story outlined in each book. A lot of the minor details that make the books so enjoyable are lost. I compare the books to any sort of Dan Brown book (Angels and Demons or The Da Vinci Code) in that they aren't masterfully written, but use a lot of suspense and dialogue to keep you wanting to read. Plus, if you actually sit down to read them, they read amazingly fast. I got through the entire 6th book, 600+ pages, in a day in preparation for the 7th book.
