What revolves around the Earth?

56% of the French apparently don't know.

Does anybody speak French? That question had to be worded strangely or something.

I actually just punched it into Babelfish and it came out as this:

"What revolved around the ground?"

Not sure which is worse. That 56% of the audience got it wrong or that the producers thought it would be a tough enough to be like the 6th or 7th question.

I speak rudimentary French, but from what I can tell it didn't seem to be worded strangely. "Terre" is the same as calling soil "earth," as in, "I planted my begonias in good, dark, earth."

"Terre" is the primary word in French for "The Earth," but it also has other colloquial meanings. "Pomme de terre" is "apple of the earth" (French for potato), so "terre" has a number of uses, but this question would properly be translated as, "What revolves around the Earth."

That being said, this guy is an idiot. :-B

Thanks for the info knapp, but all I could think of when reading your response was "apple of the Earth?" :-D

I'd imagine a lot of the people in the audience just wanted him to fail for not knowing such an easy question and voted for the wrong answer. I know I would do that.
