I speak rudimentary French, but from what I can tell it didn't seem to be worded strangely. "Terre" is the same as calling soil "earth," as in, "I planted my begonias in good, dark, earth."
"Terre" is the primary word in French for "The Earth," but it also has other colloquial meanings. "Pomme de terre" is "apple of the earth" (French for potato), so "terre" has a number of uses, but this question would properly be translated as, "What revolves around the Earth."
That being said, this guy is an idiot.
