Manny Ramirez 20
John Smoltz 8
Personally, I will keep voting Smoltz over Manny. And it ain;t over till it's over...
Manny is a very good hitter, but I don't think he gets in unless he continues to produce. And I am not clear if he will. Was he ever the best hitter? Never. Even in fantasy, he was rarely a first-rounder and usually only at the end of the first round. SO even in terms of pure stats, he was never tops. Now he certainly was consitently good, but one can say the same thing about Smoltz. He was a dominating starter and closer. His numbers are downright filthy. His weakness is longevity as either a closer or starter. He will always be a rare bird because he went back to starting. And how many come back at his age and dominate like he has. He has some of the best seasons ever as a closer. And he had some super seasons as a starter. I just don't see how he won't get in.
