Need some ideas...WHIR

Postby ReddawgT » Wed Jul 18, 2007 8:37 pm

Need some idea's on how I can make up some ground in my Yahoo league at the moment...currently its an 8 man 5x5 rotoleague.

C - Brian McCann
1B - Carlos Delgado
2B - Kaz Matsui
3B - Ryan Braun
SS - Jose Reyes
IF - Aramis Ramirez
OF - Lance Berkman
OF - Alex Rios
OF - Carl Crawford
UTIL - Michael Cuddyer
Bench - Howie Kendrick (DL), JJ Hardy, (1) Empty Spot

(2 SP, 2 RP, 3 Pitching Slots)
SP - Brandon Webb, Cole Hamels, Rich Hill, Jered Weaver, Tim Lincecum, Yovani Gallardo, Ben Sheets (DL)
RP - Eric Gagne, Chris Ray, Octavio Dotel, David Weathers, Jeremy Accardo & Brad Lidge

Currently i'm in 6th place out of 8 in the league and feel I need to make some kind of move to "infuse" some life into my team to help me to have a chance at a run in the second half to climb the standings.

I currently have a 1 in Runs, RBI & HR's and a 2 in Errors & Average. My first thought here is that I need to get a power hitter to help me with my HR/RBI problem...agreed? disagree?

Three Trades in the Works?
1) I have put out a trade to another owner for Grady Sizemore (I was thinking of trying to trade the guy Eric Gagne & Michael Cuddyer no idea if he'll go for it, but he's getting killed in saves).
2) The current leader in the league has put out an offer of his Albert Pujols for my Jose Reyes? Thoughts?
3) Another owner has put Travis Hafner & Julio Lugo on the table for Carl Crawford.

...what do you guys think of those three trades? Should I try to get someone else? Please let me know :-)

Take trade # 2 if you can get Pujols for Reyes I'd jump on that one. Thanks for your help with mine.

Thanks for your help with mine, much obliged.

These 8 team leagues are killers, aren't they? I'm a little unclear how you have a 2 in Errors if you're in a 5x5 league...

Trade 1: It won't hurt to offer, and if you get it, gangbusters. Sizemore is money when it comes to Runs. You can always vulture saves from the waivers.

Trade 2: I'd bank on Pujols having a great second half. Don't count the Cardinals out yet, either. They could surprise a few people. This is an ideal trade if you want to give up on the Stolen bases category and make a push for the power numbers. He's not far behind Reyes in the Runs category either.

Trade 3: Hafner and Lugo for Crafword - I like this. Crafword is a strong player throughout the season, but hte splits show that the first half is his best half. Pronk, meanwhile, could be in for a huge second half.

I like 3 the best, then option 2. Reyes is tough to let go of...

I like trade 2 for your HR/RBI problem, Pujols should be himself sooner than later and Reyes will never help you with that, not taking anything away from him of course.

Thanks for the help with mine.

If you have Reyes AND Crawford, then you can dish one to get the power you need. Both Pujols and Pronk have had less than stellar first halfs, so if you want to gamble try for Pujols. That deal will level out your team. The first deal is a luck deal, beacause Gagne is not sexy and is viewed as a DL waiting to happen and Cuddyer is solid but again, not the stud Sizemore is.

Thanks for the help with mine, BTW
