Chavez's back is okay, per MLB.com...

A's third baseman Eric Chavez, who missed his third consecutive game on Wednesday afternoon with tightness in his back, underwent an MRI to see if there was any serious damage.

In one of the rare cases where the A's have received good news about an injury, nothing major was discovered.

Geren and the A's are eyeing a weekend return as the A's manager said it would "probably be Saturday." He also added that you might be able to give or take a day with the slight possibility he could be back on Friday, or Sunday.

he's been having a decent year power wise, but im not a believer in his typical 2nd half surge - he's seems to be fairly banged up...but i guess he always seems to be...
