Who's got the scoop on Jason Botts?

I guess more so, any updates on Sosa? I'm counting on him to be dealt so I can maybe pick up Botts. He's got some good power numbers in the minors, but his "UTIL" eligibility only in Yahoo has me a little hesitant.

As a Rangers fan I've been following him a little bit, and in my opinion I dont think Sosa will be traded unfortunately. Sosa's contract is up after this year, and he's been okay this season, and fans in Arlington are coming to see him. Regarding Botts, I like him, a switch hitter, who is a big time power hitter, and has a .300 avg. in the minors surprisingly...I expect Botts to be up mid-August though

He's just gone on the 7 day DL. From the Rangers web site:

Botts on Oklahoma DL: Oklahoma RedHawks outfielder/DH Jason Botts was placed on the seven-day Pacific Coast League disabled list on Wednesday after sustaining stitches and a fractured tip of his right ring finger in Tuesday night's game at AutoZone Park in Memphis.

Botts, who turns 27 on July 26, was injured as a shallow pop fly in Tuesday's sixth inning grazed his finger as he made a catch in the 7-1 RedHawks victory. He was batting .319 with 13 home runs and 74 RBIs.

Is he really 27 years old??? Is this a Jack Cust type of guy?

hes 26 and turns 27 in a week.

hes always hit well enough that he should get a chance in the majors, but its kind of hard to break in to the mlb as a DH, even though the rangers havnt had a ton of great dhs.... hes only gotten 77 at bats so its not like hes failed as a big leaguer and been sent down after a real try. jack cust? yeah, pretty much. not quite as much HR power though.

but in any case, since may 1st he was hitting .361 with a .480 obp and lots of rbis, and he is definitely getting a chance this year for the final third of the season or whatever it ends up being, gm said so.

as far as fantasy goes, i dont think hes only someone you need to be worried about in deep or al only leagues though, until you see what he does in his mlb stint. could end up being a sleeper pick for next year though, definitely. or he could be bad
