I have ranked the top 15 catchers. I was curious to see what other peoples rankings look like at catcher. Any explanations would be greatly appreciated
Jorge Posada-Very good #s last year, still in a great offensive lineup
Ivan Rodriguez-Stayed healthy, productive season, but he is a Tiger
Mike Piazza-Best power for a catcher, hope he stays healthy
Javy Lopez-wont duplicate 2003 but has to get some respect
Jason Varitek-love boston's lineup
Jason Kendall-hits for average
Mike Lieberthal-almost hit .300 last year
Johnny Estrada-i am a optimistic braves fan, he should be lower
A.J. Pierzynski-descent production
Ramon Hernandez-good power
Paul Lo Duca
Matt LeCroy
Jason Phillips-showed potential last year
Benito Santiago
Bengie Molina

Kendall is too high. So, he hits for average...big deal.
I didnt think the Pirates could get any worse...but a high school squad could compete with them.
JK looks to be on the decline as far as SBs are concern. His 8 SBs last year was a fall off, but he raised his average last year. If you need SBs...then I can see a case to be made.
But Ill take Varitek and his one or two steals and lower BA any day of the week...cuz i know i am getting about 20 more homers and a lot more RBIs.
I see LoDuca is still living off his 2001 numbers.
Lots of late rd talent to be had after the top teir are gone. More young hitting Cs with breakout potential than tthere has been in the past.
My strategy will be to grab the best catcher that fell too far in the draft.

There is no way Varitek should be rated ahead of Kendall in roto 5 x 5. For a start with Kendall you are guaranteed close to 600 AB's which for a catcher is very high and especially valuable when you take his career average into account. Varitek will bat 150 less times a season and hits from the 9 hole most of the time which has to affect his overall numbers. Sure the 20 odd homers are nice but that .265 avearge is a major handicap.
Varitek no better than 10th in my opinion. Same level as Ra Hernandez
