Why are they calling Wood up to let him sit on the bench? Does anyone have an update on the situation?

Yep, called him up for depth. He has only started one or two games. He'll be sent back once Kendrick comes back.

Kendrick has not yet been cleared to resume baseball activities, following x-rays on his broken finger on Monday, the LA Times reports. There's not much Kendrick can do to accelerate the process - he just has to wait for the broken bone to heal. "There's no difference in my status," Kendrick said. "It's frustrating, but it's a broken bone and there is nothing you can do but wait."
