News: Red Sox OF J.D. Drew left the game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night because of tightness in his right hamstring. Drew doubled to lead off the third inning and later scored. He was replaced in the field by Eric Hinske in the fourth. According to Red Sox spokesman John Blake, Drew felt tightness in his hamstring while running the bases.
Analysis: Surprise, surprise. Drew gets injured again. This has been a reoccuring theme throughout his 10-year career. He is back to being day to day. Drew is not having a great first year with the Red Sox, but is still a viable Fantasy option based on potential, when healthy.
Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff wrote:J.D. Drew appears headed for more rest today, his hamstring still bothering him from tweaking it on a double during Friday night's game. He said a return is likely tomorrow. "I didn't do a whole lot [yesterday] because I could tell, even doing a light jog, I could still feel it kind of grabbing back there," Drew said. "I was going to go out on the field just to run around and try to shag some balls, do some slow moving today, but I went down in the tunnel and just jogged for a second and didn't feel like it was a good idea. So I came back out, treated it, was available to hit if need be, took some swings in the cage and things like that, but I was really just trying to get it to calm down a little bit and not really do anything to jeopardize it in a long period of time."
