Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox agreed to terms Friday on a three-year contract with outfielder Trot Nixon. The deal supersedes the one-year contract for 2004 that the two sides agreed upon on January 20.
The 29-year-old Nixon set career-highs for batting average (.306) and home runs (28) in 2003, playing in 134 games for Boston.
Nixon has spent the first seven years of his career with the Red Sox and owns a lifetime average of .277 with 106 home runs and 381 RBI in 696 contests. He was drafted in the first round (seventh overall) of the 1993 free-agent draft.
