I read somewhere that players typically miss only 4 weeks with this surgery. I think I may have read that on rotoworld, but I don't remember.

Jul 17 Ortiz could need surgery on his sore right knee, according to the Boston Herald.

Advice: The injury may have happened last season when Ortiz's cleat got caught in loose netting in front of the batting practice cage. The slugger has been bothered by quadriceps and hamstring soreness that could be attributed to the knee injury. He will undergo an MRI, hoping it shows some connection between the ailments. Continue to monitor the developments as Ortiz's power numbers have dipped this season.

According to Big Papi, the power outage has nothing to do with his knee. He says he's trying to hit for average this year...

Ortiz has been productive in other facets of the game—he ranks among the AL’s top 10 in on-base percentage and slugging and, with a .320 average, is on pace to shatter his previous career best of .301—but his power struggles, caused at least in part by season-long leg woes, have tested his confidence and typically cheery demeanor.

But he was in a good mood Saturday, when he said he wasn’t concerned about his home run total and spoke of how pleased he is with his improved batting average. “I’m trying to do my thing, I’m not even going to worry about home runs,” Ortiz said. “You’re not talking about a guy that hit 50 home runs last year but this year is not hitting home runs and [is] hitting .200. Now you’d be like ‘OK, there’s something really bad going on around here.’

“But one thing I’ve really been working [on is] I feel like I can hit for a better average. In the off-season I sat down and talked to my dad [and said] ‘You know what, dad? This year I want to see if I can hit for average bet

wow, nice find on the above.

that really sucks though, i needed his POWER this year. He does seem to be finding it a little bit more often recently, maybe he's getting bored with singles? (I would hope)

ya notice that once the knee surgery hit the news, he's been tearing up.

still can't believe he wore a Yankee hat in that commercial.

I had a trade pending for his berkman and my Ortiz but it got vetoed and im glad because i had second thoughts. But the other owner offered it back to me and i dont know if i should accept it again. I think I'm only going to accept the trade if Ortiz needs surgery and i click accept before the other manager pulls the trade away.

I'm gonna need some star power batting production making a late season playoff push then if i get into the playoffs. I hope Ortiz doesn't sit at the end of the year because the BoSox have a playoff spot and im screwed for my playoffs.
