because they are on national television everytime they play (TBS). as far as i know, they are everyone's favorite team from the south because there arent any other teams in georgia, alabama, kentucky, the carolinas, tennesee, etc...

Kentucky down south :-?

yeah. if you asked anyone what region kentucky was in, they'd say "the south".

i guess its pretty similar to where you live and "north philly bad landz". :-°

Kentucky is south, just like Virginia is south.

The only team that is surprising is the Angles, i thought they would be higher than some of the smaller/mid market teams.

Not to be a homer but I am kind of surprised the Twins are so low. They've been a playoff team more often than not lately and everyone loves the underdogs. Plus, they have well liked, award-winning players. For the same reason I'm surprised the A's are low as well. Those two teams seem like they should be higher.

I bet the poll only asked for the one favorite team. That would benefit large city teams. I think the A's and Twins would be higher if you asked everyone who follows baseball for their three favorite teams. I just can't believe that the Reds, Pirates, Mariners and Indians and a few more are more popular than Minnesota and Oakland.

Remember a few years back when the Twins were nearly contracted...

That should say something about how large a fanbase they have. Now i know they have become more popular since then, and contraction wasn't all about popularity, but still...

This solidifies the notion that nobody cares about Canada. :-D

Haha, I wonder if they even surveyed anybody in Canada.
The interesting thing is, there are actually a fair amount of Jays fans on this board compared to the fans many other teams on here.

I would find it quite hiliarious if they didn't survey anyone in Canada, though their ranking kind of lead me to believe that would have to be the case.

Boston is behind Atlanta? Really? Just because the Bravos are on TBS all the time doesn't mean that they're "more popular." Where does Boston go that they don't help boost attendance? When is the last time Fenway was half empty? By what measuring stick are they gauging "popularity" when Boston comes in behind Atlanta? I'm not buying that one.

Using the argument that the Braves are #2 because they're on TV all the time, how does that explain the Cubs being at #5 when they're on WGN every other day? The Cubs have a drunken fan base in every town. How they come in at #5 behind teams like Atlanta and St. Louis is beyond me.

:-?

Kentucky down south :-?

Anything below the Ohio River (which strangely actually belongs to the state of Kentucky) is considered the South.

Yeah, what a stupid survey. Of course the lone Canadian team will be the least liked when you don't survey Canadians. I'd say the Jays have just as many fans as most US cities, likely more as they have an entire country that support them for the most part.

I'm not positive on the specifics but I'd assume it was a survey done in the US.
