The New York Yankees are the most popular team in baseball while the Tigers checked in at No. 6, according to a Harris Poll.
The Yankees have held the No. 1 spot for five consecutive years in voting that takes place at midseason.
The Tigers improved one spot over 2006. They were 19th in 2005.
The survey was conducted online by Harris Interactive from June 5-11. Only people who follow major league baseball were surveyed.
Rounding out the top five were the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs. The Toronto Blue Jays ranked last among the 30 major league teams.
By region, the most popular teams were the Yankees in the East, Cardinals in the Midwest, Braves in the South and Seattle Mariners in the West.

Any idea how they polled or the questions asked? Did people fill out a secret ballot during their lunch break with other questions like "who is the biggest locker room clown?" and "who is most likely to punch an ump?"
