Garza will stay in the rotation post all star break!!!!

Great pickup for any of you guys that got him before his shutout against the Sox.

Manager Ron Gardenhire said Sunday that Matt Garza will remain in the Twins' rotation.

Garza was called up to start against the White Sox in Friday's doubleheader and impressed with six shutout innings. With Kevin Slowey demoted back to Triple-A, Garza has a chance to claim the fifth-starter job for the second half.

Projections?

I just can't wait till next year with Liriano...I'm bouncing off the walls with the Garza announcement though...glad Slowey is gone...didn't seem quite ready.

What are your sources on this? I haven't heard anything that assures me that he's staying in the rotation.

I commented in a separate Garza thread a when he was called up saying he sould stay in the rotation. I had him replacing Baker or Silva so was wrong on that, but I did think he could stick in the rotation at least for a little bit. I think this is the challenge he needs and hopefully he keeps his head on straight and can stay in the rotation (he definitely has the talent to do so)! ;-D

This is awesome news. And yes, next year Santana, Liriano, and Garza will be the best 1-2-3 K guys on a team.

Lavelle E. Neal reported it in the Strib that Garza would stay up and Slowey would stay down. It makes sense, Garza appeared to be better seasoned in his last start than Slowey did in any of his.
