Well, not to blow up my premise -- though I am ...
Very basic stat crunching suggests homers are up and doubles are relatively even to last year.
2006 Season Total:
18.50 at bats / double
31.07 at bats / homer
2007 Mid-Season Total:
18.41 at bats / double
34.91 at bats / homer
Of course, this is very simplistic numbers to draw major conclusions from but it would appear the reduction in homers and increase in doubles is specific to my fantasy team only!

those numbers support your theory, though it's maybe not as pronounced as you thought. more at bats/homer = less homers.

I blame Manbearpig, Manbearpig is clearly the cause of this statistical anomaly, why in fact just yesterday I saw Manbearpig transform into the likeness of Curtis Granderson and steal a HR away from the Red Sox. I'm cereal guys, it's that damn Manbeapig, why won't anyone believe me?
