Big time rumor

Postby raiders_umpire » Sun Jul 08, 2007 7:40 pm

that I have been hearing quite a bit about the last few weeks. Longoria could be making a visit to Durham after todays Futures Game. I sort of have mixed emotions about it. Even though he has been great, he still hasn't been in the minors but for a year so far. I would really love to see him hang out at Montgomery for the rest of the season, just to mainly get a bit more seasoning without having the added pressure of moving up a level. But a huge part of me would love to personally see him play at Durham and it would also give him a huge chance of making the big league club out of spring training next year. A promotion for Longoria could also get Brignac going as well, seeing a friend get promoted and him missing out on the promotion.

I think Evan will be in Durham after the break. He has hit well in Montgomery and the Rays are under pressure to show that they are doing something to the average fan. One way to do it is to promote the number 1 pick from last year. I really think Niemann will be in the rotation when they need that 5th starter in 2 weeks.
