Trading By Name Recognition

I was thinking about this and wondered how most of you trade. Do you trade big names only if you get big names in return. Do you feel insulted if you get a offer of two guys who are not stars by name but have the same value as two guys who might be bigger names. These are the numbers for the players in the deal tell me your thoughts without knowing who the guy are and then we can see if your thoughts change when you know the names.

Player B- 8-4 W-L 3.58-ERA 45-K 254-Fantasy Points 18.1 AVG/PG

Okay so those are the numbers first give your opinion honestly on if you think it's fair. Then we can get to who they actually are.

This is a case where names do matter. Has Capps and Victorino been great this far? Yes. Has Ortiz underachieved? Yes. So this is a case where the names do matter. Obviously Ortiz won't stay this bad all year. Are you seriously expecting him to hit 26 HRs?

the thread should be more general. that specific trade is total and utter bs like he said. but in general, you do have a valid point. most people are reluctant to trade guys with big names for guys without, but there is a reason. guys with big names have proven year in and year out that they can produce, i.e. ortiz. the guys you dont know have been good but no one can know with any certainty if they will maitain or totally crash, i.e. victorino. thats not to say Victorino can't become a superb player, its just not worth paying for his stats up till now in a trade. simple as that.
