Seo's an interesting one. We thought about including him, but we feel that he isn't completely recovered from the surgery that caused him to miss two seasons. He certainly isn't pitching badly, but with only 29 k's in 55 ip, it looks like he's lost something. Hopefully, he can reach his great potential, but it might be next year before we find out.

Franklin German - (Detroit Tigers - RP) Should be a lock to make the Tigers opening day team. He’s the closer of the future and the future could be now. Don’t count Matt Anderson out of the mix, but since these are two of the most valuable chips on the Detroit team.

Travis Hafner (Cleveland Indians - 1B) - He’s the guy slated to replace Thome at first base. He was a top prospect in Texas, but was not going to get a chance to play. In Cleveland, he’s the man. His AAA numbers were remarkable, showing a .342, 21hr, 77rbi, 79 run season in 401 ABs. He could end up a 3-4-5 hitter for the Indians this season.

We do all sorts of research. One source that's often overlooked but can be quite useful for minor leaguers are local media (although you sometimes have to filter through some home team bias :-)

).

I like both of those guys. We were already pretty high on German last fall (see the sleepers column here); he still isn't a lock to gain the closer's job, but if he does get the nod, we like his chances of succeeding.

Hafner's in a terrific situation. I expect him to take some time to adjust to the majors, but if Cleveland is patient, he could be a big part of their future.

thnx for the info arlo i love seein the up and coming stars of the league i just look at my newspaper about he astros minor league team we have here in lexington
