There's no way I could do a real draft in December. Way too early for my taste with all the free agents out there.
I've got a keeper league that is going to start drafting next week and even that is a little early to me. It's going to be a slow draft, 24 hours to pick, so it will drag out a little, but I always prefer to do a live draft in one day closer to the beginning of the season.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

It has been taht way in our league for 3 yrs though and kinda keeps everyone involved in the offseason. Each owner has 48hrs to post there pick and it is a 30 player roster so it takes us right up to the beginning of the season.
IF you live far away and can't be on the net at one time, then starting now isn't a bad idea. I guess I can count myself fortunate that I have 8 friends and a sibling into the sport enough that we can get together and play. If I were in a league with owners all across the country, then I personally would like to wait until a week into spring training once the position players report. That way you have some news filtering in. I like trevisc doing Feb 21 if you have a league that trades a lot.
Baseball is a game where a curve is an optical illusion, a screwball can be a pitch or a person, stealing is legal and you can spit anywhere you like except in the umpire's eye or on the ball. ~Jim Murray
i try to spread drafts out/ I have a few slower drafts that have started, i'll do one late feb, one mid march and prolly one just before openinmg day. it works quite nicely to space them out that way

I am participating in 3 leagues. I'm doing one slow draft to keep me occupied in the offseason (it is a 1st year keeper), I also am doing a head to head and rotiserrie league which I do in yahoo when it opens up.
Also right now I am in 2nd place of 20 teams in my b-ball leage.

We're starting our 12-team, 18-player roster draft on February 23rd. It's a little early for my taste, but we have people spread around also, so it will be a round a day kind-of-thing.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
My only league, 10 team keeper, is set for March 6th since that's when a lot of the guys in school have off for spring break. Early/Mid March seems like the optimum time to draft to me?
Last year we drafted early January and it was just too soon. Needless to say the Hoffman, Nen and Nevin owners voted to draft later this year.
