Resurrecting this topic, for the life of me I cannot see why the Jays wouldn't start Stairs. Over the past month he's batted .299 with 18/6/16 numbers. That ain't crap - very comparable to Overbay's last month before injury, except Stairs has a much better BA and OPS.

Im guessing Overbay will get the call vs. lefties and Stairs will play vs. righties. That would be the smart thing to do imo. There is no way either should be benched or sent down.

That's probably a good call. Well, for the Jays anyway, but fantasy-wise it's a killer for both of them.

overbay and stairs are both lefties, eh?..
You've got a diamond, You've got nine men You've got a hat and a bat, And that's not all..
Stairs will get occasional starts from LF and 1B, but will be a bench player for the rest of the year.
It's a shame because he was really hot when Reed and Lyle got healthy, but the original plan was to have him sit as a vertern lefty bat from the bench and it looks like he'll do just that from here on out.
