Zack Greinke threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief against the White Sox tonight to pick up his first career save.
Greinke entered in the seventh with a man on first and one out in a three-run game, so it was one of the easier save chances a reliever could inherit. Greinke gave up just one hit and struck out two in the process. Manager Buddy Bell named Greinke the club's backup closer earlier this month, and he's responded by allowing one run in his last 9 2/3 innings of work. He's likely to replace Octavio Dotel when he's dealt next month.

Yeah but they seem to each get love at the set-up spot and Bell liked Soria before and he's been pretty dang good this year, no runs allowed in his past 13 appearances. Only given up more than 1 run in a game once and in his 3 blown saves he only gave up a run each time, not like he got blown out. Plus they want Greinke back as a Starter, so why not go Soria, he did fine before. I like both Greinke and Soria but I think Bell will ultimately decide when time. And what do I know, I'm not in the Majors, lol.
