who are the closers of the future???

Postby AEMRICH » Fri Jul 06, 2007 1:18 pm

Hey guys i'm in an 18 team dynasty league and i don't have a closer. I'm curious as to who some of the young guys are that will be closers maybe next year or two or three years down the road. Is Marmol the man in Chicago. Is tony sipp going to close for the indians? is Craig Hansen the COTF for the Sox??? Could use some help thanks

Basically I'd call looking for future closers a crap shoot.
Just to throw out a few that might possibly close: Tom Mastny, Santiago Casilla, JB Cox, Devern Hansack, Jeff Manship, Eduardo Morlan, Jose Mijares, Casey Weathers, Juan Morillo, Jon Broxton

Jonathan Meloan is a stud reliever prospect pitching for the Dodgers AA affiliate. Some think he is the best reliever in the minors. If he stays with the Dodgers (trade deadline coming up) he would probably set up for Broxton next year. There has been talk of him getting called up after the All-Star break. His name has come up in trade rumors though. He could end up in Texas and be the closer of the future for them (like next year). He is a strikout stud...

I like Joey Devine...his delivery is scary as hell but he has looked impressive. They really rushed this guy...but after his cup of coffee he worked out some things and has looked pretty good. I could see him as a future closer.

Just go to the closer's thread. They have the COTF listed.

It's a sticky in the Baseball Leftovers. Here it is.

Also, the COTF have the B-) next to them.

Hard to say. Closers are usually guys who just happen to be in the right place at the right time. In July 2005 people would have called you crazy if you told then that Papelbon would be the 2007 red sox closer and not Craig Hansen.
