Im a big A's fan but im gonna steer away from chavez. The guy loses confidence in himself ALOT, so when he is in a slump (like alot of the time in 2003) it takes him forever to get out. Now tejada has gone, all the pressure is on him to produce. Seeing him in the past, i dont like to think of what that will do to him, just too much of a risk to me. Rolen is established, consistant, has a good surrounding lineup, and hits in a good hitters park. I say Rolen.
id take rolen for the same reasons as everyone else. if chavez gets traded or signs somewhere good next year, he will be gold in keeper leages. id still take rolen though
My strategy is to let somebody else take Rolen and Chavez, and wait a couple rounds later and hope Hank Blalock will still be there. Blalock had a slightly better year than these two and will hopefully improve. Between Rolen and Chavez I would take Rolen simply for the better lineup he is in.

It's really a toss up but I think Chavez has more power and after this year (or even by the All-star break) he won't be in Oakland anymore so his numbers could get even better...
I say Chavez
I'm assuming because of their pitching staff they are going to be in the hunt for a title. If that is the case arent they more likely to go GET a hitter instead of trading away Chavez? I take Rolen, but Dont see Chavez gettting traded.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
