A week ago, I would have said yes. At this point, I don't know, I really don't know. I can't imagine he'll suck forever but I think he's a burn-out for this year.
As a Braves fan, I never thought I'd say this, but I can't WAIT for this guys contract to run out and for him to get the hell out of Atlanta. I'm sick of his lazy, 'I don't give a shit' demeanor, I'm sick of him coming to spring training FAT and out of shape every year, and I'm sick of him admittedly REFUSING to even attempt to hit the ball the other way.
At this point, he's nothing more than a shitty player. He has the potential to be great, but his head's not in it.

a contract year and he just turned 30 I was thinking this would be the best statistic year of his career and hes been terrible
i agree i think he was expecting a big year also, I guess you should say he is pressing, but i am also def considering trying to pick him up on the cheap, he is basically unstartable right now.
I have to believe he will have a better second half then first just because his numbers are so far off his career numbers, i know he isn't a .300 hitter but i gotta believe he has some HR and RBI in him this season.

For what it's worth...Jones hit a couple of balls well last night, but got nothing to show for it. He missed a HR in CF by about 1 foot, and hit another ball to the warning track in his next AB. He is looking better at the plate lately, but still no results to speak of.

I noticed that. He's slowly showing signs of life.
I think it's funny how people are calling him done. Yes he is struggling, but over the the past week he has 3 dingers, and has improved his stats quite a bit.
Jones is now at 15 hr's 52rbi 40runs
Not bad numbers considering how HORRIBLE he has been
Both of the last two seasons Jones hit 20+ hr's in the 2nd half, with these shines of life I don't see why he won't do it again. His BA at 202 is still very low, but it is so low it isn't very hard to improve. If he throws together a good month he can easily shoot it up. I doubt he will hit any higher then 255 this season, But I do see him being able to raise his BA to the 240-255 range. (an Adam Dunn BA)
If Jones slightly increases his play in the 2nd half, he should make a run at 35hr's 110rbi and 100runs. (with the ability to do much more, this is the beauty of being a power hitter, hr's can come in strides)Now if you would have asked me this 2 weeks ago, I may have disagreed. But 3 hrs in a week show signs of life.
