Since when is a .308 OBP a guy who 'gets on base'?
I predict a 15-18HR, 80-90RBI, .250 - 270 AVG. It's not horrible for a rookie, on whom too much was expected. And please, we saw him explode last year with the bat incident. No explosions!
His OBP has gone up every month this year as has his average. I will take someone with that power who gets on base 1/3 times he gets up

Really, I wouldn't. His power isn't particularly impressive either.
His power IS very impressive. His bat speed is amazing, and he is an absolute beast - when he makes solid contact, he can hit the ball a mile. Of course, as of now, it may be more power potential than actual power, but there is little question he has the potential to hit 40 homers.
Lets not forget that this kid is just 21 years old.

But lots of kids have potential: Ensburg, Burroughs, Gordon, etc. How many actually realize it? Not many.
I think next year will be his breakout year especially in the second half. He'll be exactly the same player so far this year in the second half which is inconsistent. I guess I wouldn't be shocked if he had a strong September.
As i watched the home run derby last night it came to me who Delmon reminds me of -- Vlad. He may never be as good as Vlad, but he does the same types of stuff. He does not like to walk, swings at everything, strong arm, good power. He just needs to get that avg up, which i believe he will.

Reminds me more of Soriano (who is like Vlad too in some ways), but he has a huge way to go to earn it. I really doubt he gets there this year, and I have huge doubts for the future too. He's no Wright or Cabrera.
the bat incident was a bad move on his part granted. but we are talking about raw talent correct and not actions? if thats the case, thats what he is, is talented. he will be a big bat soon, he will be like prince fielder power but not as soon, he will develop more and he is faster. and to be honest he has better work ethic than miguel cabrera who shows no hustle, never charges a grounder, or runs out a grounder. so the better ball player will be young over cabrera.
and isn't that what this is? and delmon has improved steadily and he will show it the 2nd half.
