SS Jason Bartlett ..thoughts?

i want to get some thoughts on Twins SS Jason Bartlett.
is he worth having at SS for the rest of the season?
looks like he is hitting in the #2 spot now full time for Minnesota. that will bat him behind Castillo and infront of Mauer/Cuddyer/Morneau/Hunter ..so the runs should be there if he continues to get on base.
just in the #2 spot.. 16games, 61AB- .311 AVG/ .391 OBP/ .443 SLG/ .834 OPS.
he also has 16 SB on the season.
he has .289 BABIP, 25.2 LD%, 9.8 BB%
he did well in the minors..

hes not going to do much in HR, but should have a good AVG, good R, good SB ..right?

is he someone to keep and expect his recent numbers to continue? or is he just going through a hot streak and not likely to continue?

I have been wondering the same thing... He is pesky and works hard like a Eckstein or Pedroia. He was a fan favorite in Rochester. While I don't think his #s will be fantastic, he won't hurt you either. He could be decent filler if you've lost a Tejada or someone who could be out for a little bit, like Hanley Ramirez.

I actually even picked him up for a bit last season. He's a great player, but his numbers this year will only be okay. Keep your eyes peeled next season.

Well he's running and running effectively. Just got caught stealing for the first time last night, he was 16/16 in sb attempts.

I was thinking the same thing just last night. I had Tejada get hurt and had no other SS on my roster. So I picked up Bill Hall who has been very frustrating. He either plays well or goes for negative points. I'm thinking of swapping him out for Bartlett till Tejada is back.

Bartlett's value for the rest of this season will be primarily in the speed categories, and is largely contingent upon his spot in the batting order. Wed. night he hit leadoff; prior to that he spent a chunk of time in the 2-hole, as mentioned. Either one, he's a worthy bench bat or injury fill as a middle infielder.

I recently churned him into my lineup in my search for runs and SB at a MI spot. He follows Iguchi, who inexpicably was kicked from the 2-hole to the bottom half of the order just when he seemed to be getting it together (he has since been reinstated) and the formerly red-hot Fontenot, who was jettisoned from the No. 2 spot to No. 7 just after I picked him up.

As long as Bartlett is hitting in front of Mauer-Morneau-Cuddyer, there should be some value. If he drops to the 7-8 lineup spots, I'm probably trolling again.
